ORWL advises Paymium on obtaining its CASP authorisation from the AMF

ORWL_ is pleased to have advised Paymium on obtaining its crypto-asset service provider (CASP) authorisation from the French Financial Markets Authority (AMF).

Founded in 2011, Paymium is Europe’s oldest crypto-asset exchange platform. It offers its clients a comprehensive range of services, including custody of crypto-assets, exchange of crypto-assets for fiat currency, execution of orders on behalf of third parties, operation of a trading platform for crypto-assets, and transfer of crypto-assets.

The authorisation to operate a trading platform for crypto-assets is particularly significant in this regard: it is one of the most demanding licences provided for under the MiCA Regulation, with fewer than fifteen authorised operators across the European Union to date. Paymium thus becomes the first platform in France to have obtained this authorisation.

This authorisation now enables Paymium to offer its services across the European Union, within a framework that meets the highest standards of financial and information security required under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA).

ORWL_’s lawyers, notably William O’Rorke and Imane Dahmani, advised the company on the structuring of its governance, the preparation of the authorisation application (regulatory analysis, formalisation of internal policies and procedures), matters relating to compliance with AML/CFT and market abuse requirements, as well as throughout its exchanges with the regulator.
